John Raisian

Director, Hoover InstitutionJohn Raisian has been the director of the Hoover Institution since 1989. Originally a 1970s-era consultant with the Rand Corporation, Raisian has also taught economics at the University of Washington and University of Houston. During the 1980s, he worked in the Reagan Administration in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and later in the U.S. Department of Labor (which gave him its Distinguished Service Award upon his departure).
Raisian has written numerous scholarly articles on labor markets, for publications such as the Journal of Labor Economics and the Journal of Labor Research. He is a graduate of Ohio University and UCLA.
