In 2002, she filed an unsuccessful suit against the San Francisco Unified School District to keep Bay Area schoolchildren from attending a free “student day” at the Grand National Rodeo. Hilden was joined by two animal rights groups, one of which (In Defense of Animals) paid the related legal bills
